Confirmations May 2009

The Confirmations in May 2009 took place in Arundel Roman Catholic Cathedral, which was kindly loaned to the Church of England for the occasion. This allowed over 80 people to be confirmed from all around our Deanery, which stretches from East Preston to Pagham and North to Slindon.

As we are awaiting a new Bishop of Horsham, the Confirmations were carried out by the Bishop of Chichester, the Rt Rev John Hind. It was Bishop John who, when he was Bishop of Horsham, Licenensed our own Vicar to All Saints on 17th April 1991.

Our candidates, this year, were Emma Williams (14), Lisa Myers (32) and Kate Russell (40). Like most of our Confirmation candidates, Emma and Lisa had found faith through the Alpha Course - Lisa has done it twice! Kate simply felt God calling her to start attending Sunday Worship and to Confirmation.

All three candidates had a powerful experience of God's grace during or immediately after the service. One literally felt the Holy Spirit enter her body and another feels that her whole past is forgiven and cleansed. Below are Lisa, Emma and Kate with Bishop John.
