Photos from our weekly photo challenge

I took this photo at Worthing 5 years ago when I had just moved here from Surrey. I was only thinking yesterday when it came up in my Facebook memories that five years later in a global pandemic God has blessed me with accommodation and a beach hut not too far from here from a new friend that I didn’t know 5 years ago! (I didn’t really have a Plan apart from my brothers sofa)

I took this photo down at Rustington beach on Wednesday (-hottest day so far-) .
It shows the A.Y.A.C. Dingys out having fun for possibly the first time since lockdown was eased. Hope that things will get better for all soon . It was nice to see the kids having fun after so long.

I took this photo because it reminded me that, even if we only have a little space in which to grow and not much light, God can still do something amazing.

The sun setting on the longest day. The sunbeams were beautiful and just looking at this scene I was sure God was there.

I hope that one day the knowledge of God will fill the whole earth and people will be happy to share truth - as on this plaque. This at Swanbourne Lake, Arundel.

Qumran, about 10 miles south of Jericho, where John the Baptist lived, looking towards the Dead Sea. I took this in November 2018. Luke 3: 4-6 "Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be laid low........all flesh shall see the salvation of God."

On Rustington beach this afternoon, I took this picture before I saw Chris H's stunning photo. Beautiful life springing surprisingly from the stoniest ground. That inspires hope! (Isaiah 35)

"As we walk Ollie through the rape field by us, this is what we see & it reminds me of the promise God gave us in Genesis 8:22. Through all the farmer has had to put up with this year, a whole field of rape eaten by beetles, then storms that destroyed half the field, we still have hope for a harvest & know God always keeps His promises."

Derek writes, 'these are some photos I took a few weeks back, whilst on a walk near Cissbury Ring. They are of three oak trees which have grown net to each other and their roots have intertwined and, in some cases, joined together. Due to weathering, the roots have become partially exposed, but the trees themselves are all standing solidly! They left an impression on me about the church - how we need each other and to be "united and grounded" in Jesus Christ.'

The kindness of my neighbours and friend who always very willingly help me out in practical matters. The latest getting this old cupboard into my car for me to drop off at another friend's home. I thank God for people who help out with kind deeds.

A friend of mine knows my grandson supports Liverpool football team so she made this in the relevant colours for him. He was thrilled

Eyes Fixed on Jesus
I painted this during the first online service. I feel it speaks of walking with my eyes fixed on Jesus, even if everything around me seems unclear, His light is shining on me and I am peaceful; I will not be overwhelmed. By Fliss.

It’s called ‘Mary Revealed’ and has significance for me as I’ve done two other versions in the past of this one and they have been covered with Ivy. It has made me wonder about how this experience of the pandemic has revealed to us what is it essential in our life and where there is beauty in the simplicity of what surrounds us. Luke 2:35. Julie Burnett-Kirk.

Psalm 23: 1 to 3, ''The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.'' By Dave S.

My Teddy

Rediscovered rather than created during lockdown, Carol says, "I found this when sorting out. He was given to me when I was born and I was rushed to children’s hospital where I stayed for 4 weeks fighting to live. God had his hand on me then and still does today."

‘God made the stars to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good’ By Chris H.

Blank Canvas

Painting by Dawn, "I've a sense of a new beginning and a blank canvas. Searching for what God wants me to add in."

"This is a painting of the fox that came to listen to a youth Bible study. She only has one eye so is vulnerable and cared for by all of the neighbours. A beautiful example of God's plan for humans to work together and look after His beautiful creations and the unity and joy that brings." By Fliss.
"I have spent many hours walking the beaches close to our home and have taken many photos of the sea. On the beach is one of the places I feel the strongest presence of God. I took a few photos on Climping beach as I was struck by the beauty of the forms that have emerged since the devastation hit it earlier in the year. I sensed God saying He brings beauty out of the chaos. His word stands forever and He makes all things new." Photographs by Jackie.

Lockdown Teddies Part 2

"This was my first teddy and we are both now 64 years old!. She (yes she) was given to me as a baby and reminds me of God's constancy. As a baby I had meningitis and it was serious enough that my mum told me later that prayers were said for me in the local churches. God was watching over me then and now." By Trevor F.

"Just reminding myself that God is with us through every season of our lives especially in the pain of loss." By Jackie H.
