November Update
A few updates for you as we approach the beginning of Advent…
Advent
Shirley Tupper (currently on placement with us) is leading an Advent Course based on the Lord’s Prayer in All Saints on Wednesday mornings after the communion service. Everyone is welcome to come along, Wednesdays 28/11, 12/12, 19/12, 10.30am-midday.
If you can’t make the group, then I’m suggesting trying out the Bible Society’s Advent Challenge, with daily reflections and calls to put faith into action. You can find out more and sign up here: https://www.biblesociety.org.uk/get-involved/adventchallenge/
Littlehampton Lights On - Friday 30th November, from 5pm
We would love lots of people to be involved, from across the churches, in sharing the Christmas story. Giant puppets will help us remind people about Jesus’ birth and we’d love as many as possible to hand out invitations, gather around the stable and sing! The times of the nativity performance will be 5.40pm and 7.20pm (come to one or either) - with the procession beginning at the Lloyds Bank end of the High St and finishing at the Clock Tower. Wrap up warm!
Ladies Breakfast - Saturday 1st December, 9aM
Ladies, come along to East Beach Cafe on Saturday 1st December. There’s a choice of food available on the day, or just come for a coffee and a chat. The guest speaker is Teresa Drew who has a powerful story of moving from loss to fulfilment in Christ. Sign up sheet will be available again this Sunday after the service or contact Jeannette Sax.
Christingle Making - Saturday 1st December, 2pm
We’re wondering if a few people could lend a hand preparing Christingles on Saturday 1st December at 2pm in All Saints vestry, ready for school visits during the week. All oranges and sweets will be provided! Please speak to Alison Manester or Lea Stavrou
Christmas Invitations around Kingley Gate - Saturday 1st December, 3pm.
Every Christmas and Easter we’ve gone to one of the newer parts of our parish to personally invite people to come and find out about Jesus. I’d like to try it in the afternoon this year, around Kingley Gate in time for the Christingle services. We’ve always had a good time doing this and we’ll be out for no more than an hour. If you’d like to come and prayer walk instead of inviting, then please do. Meet outside the developer’s office (1st right as you drive into Kingley Gate) at 3pm (but please don’t park in their car park!) Gloves and a wooden spoon recommended!
Carol Singing - Saturday 8th December, Sunday 9th December
Can you come and join an impromptu Christmas choir? We’re singing at Wick Hall on the 8th for the Wick Christmas (time tbc) and in the Morrisons lobby at 11.30am on Sunday 9th. Everyone is welcome to come along, wear a Christmas hat, and we’ll give out flyers for our other services and events.
Other Services
All the morning services will continue as normal but there are no 6.30pm evening services in December. The prayer meeting in church will continue on Sunday 9th December at 6.30pm in All Saints.
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who helps out with the life of the church in so many ways. In particular, to those who’ve been coming early and helping setup the hall.
