Update - July 2019

06 July 2019 11:29

Hi Everyone

A few updates and prayer points for July...

Wick Hall
Work is now underway! New storage has begun to go up in the small hall, and space is being freed around the main hall and outside for a temporarily-placed container. Once the new storage is in place, we can clear the stage and begin creating the new dedicated worship platform. Thank you for all those supporting this in various ways, please keep praying for the process and the opportunities it will give to help people come to know, love and follow Jesus. Thank you for bearing with some of the technical issues as we’ve been setting up and clearing away, many of these will improve once the work is complete!

This Sunday (Tomorrow)
Tomorrow’s 9.30am service will be shorter than usual, and there will be an opportunity to go out prayer-walking around our parish and to pray for God’s Kingdom to come. There will also be the option to remain in the hall praying, or to just go through and enjoy fellowship over a drink in the small hall.

At 6.30pm we have our communion service in All Saints, hearing from Acts 3 about the Lord’s power still at work through the Church.

At both services we will also hear an update from Carol Groves on the work of Friends of Mombasa Children and there will be an opportunity to support them through prayer and a collection for those who’d like to give.

BBQ
Everyone (including family members who don’t normally join us) are all welcome to share in a big church BBQ in the vicarage garden, from 12.30pm on Sunday 14th July. These have been really lovely times over the last two summers, with people getting to know each other better. Please bring something to sit on, and if you’d like to bring a salad, drink or pudding please do. There will be Gluten Free and Vegetarian options and if the weather is bad, we’ll cook outside but eat in the hall! There’s no cost and it would be lovely to have as many of us together as possible.

Away Day
On Saturday 7th September, from 9.30 to 5, we have our Church Away Day in Clymping Church Hall (next to the Church and Ford Prison). We had a fantastic time last year and I would be so encouraged if the vast majority of our church family can make this a priority. We’ll have some teaching around the theme of God’s worldwide mission, worship, prayer, testimonies, food, optional walk and activities plus groups for children and young people. There will be a sign-up sheet with offers of food for the bring and share lunch going up on the church noticeboard soon. For now, please put the date in your diary and even if you can’t stay for the whole day, come for what you can!
